A selection of operatic works from two seasons of Vivaldi’s lifetime. Following the performance of his first opera in 1713, Vivaldi’s life and works changed forever. In this album we hear works from his operas in 1717 and 1733. The contrast in techniques and demand from the musicians within this 16 year period is stark. As Vivaldi’s life became embroiled in the music life and politics of the baroque operatic scene, A Tale of Two Seasons showcases the way in which the music itself evolved throughout Vivaldi’s lifetime.
